Rot Repairs
Wood rot, once started, will continue to spread until treated and repaired. Untreated, such rot will lead to further damage and more costly repairs. Timber window rot may also, in time, pass into adjoining weatherboards, wall frames, etc.
For minor rot, where rot is just beginning in joins, the area is treated with a timber preservative solution to kill all wood rot spores, then treated again with a stabilising solution. For more advanced and serious rot, e.g. large areas in sills, frames and sashes, the rotten component is cut out, the area is treated, and then rebuilt with new, fully primed timber.
Double Glazing
Retrofitting modern, high-performance glass to existing timber windows increases your home’s comfort, is energy efficient and reduces noise.
Modern glass includes three options which may be suitable for your needs.
1. Double glazing (with or without Low E)
2. Laminated glass (with Low E)
3. Single thickness glass (with Low E)
A Low E coating (Low Emissivity) is a transparent coating which during summer keeps your house cooler and in winter traps heat inside. Double glazing, with Low E, provides the best option for maximum insulation.
